East wins. Bears win. Junior Griffins win.
It was a great weekend for football in Mokena.
The weather was perfect, the fans outstanding, and the action undeniable as our home teams took the field and took down their opponents.
I was lucky to be shooting a few games for the Junior Griffins Homecoming at Main Park on a beautiful Saturday morning. There were big plays and touchdowns. Cheering fans. Half-time dances. And a Homecoming Court hayride.
Photographing in Mokena is my favorite. I love the close-knit community feeling I get when I run into friends while on the job. It makes me feel like a part of something bigger and better when I am photographing kids I know from families I just love.
The best part? You are all my friends… I just may not have met you yet!
Happy football weekend everyone!
Today is the kind of day that lets you know the end of summer is near.
It’s finally turned slightly less oppressive outside.
The leaves are just starting to blow off the trees.
Football is all over TV.
I love fall for it’s cooler temperatures, it’s colors and it’s crunch under my feet.
It’s the best time on the calendar for outdoor portraits, too.
There is nothing like a big pile of leaves to distract a toddler and get genuine smiles. The nearby forest preserve gives you a palette of colors that could never be reproduced on a studio backdrop. And high school seniors can romp through the leaves in any outfit they choose, feeling carefree and cool in both t-shirts and sweaters!
September is my favorite month for many reasons. Start your own family tradition by getting the extended family together to watch a Bears game and schedule a fun family portrait session outside before or after!
You’ll be glad you did!
